How Click Tracking Works for Highlight Videos
What is Click Tracking?
Click tracking is a powerful feature that lets you know exactly when a college coach clicks on your highlight video links. This gives you valuable insight into which coaches are actively engaging with your content—information that can help you prioritize your follow-up outreach.

Coaches See Normal Links
Here's the important part: coaches never see a tracking URL. When you send an email with tracking enabled, the coach sees a perfectly normal YouTube, Hudl, or Vimeo link. The tracking happens invisibly in the background when they click.
How to Enable Tracking
When composing an email and attaching media from your profile, you'll see a toggle: "Track clicks for this link". Simply turn it ON to enable tracking for that specific link in that specific email.
You can also set a default tracking preference in your Media section under your Profile. This default will apply whenever you attach that media to an email.
What You'll See
After sending an email with tracked links, you'll be able to see:
- Which coach clicked your link
- How many times they clicked
- When they clicked (timestamp)
- Aggregate analytics per media asset
How It Works Technically
When a coach clicks your link, they're briefly redirected through our secure server (in milliseconds) before landing on your actual video. This redirect is what allows us to record the click. The experience for the coach is seamless—they just see your video load normally.
Privacy Notes
- Only you can see who clicked your links
- Coaches are not notified that tracking is enabled
- We do not share click data with anyone
- You can disable tracking at any time
Raw Pasted Links
If you paste a YouTube or Hudl URL directly into your email body (instead of attaching from your profile), RECRUITED will suggest enabling tracking. You can accept or dismiss this suggestion.
About Early Clicks
Sometimes you may see a click registered within seconds of sending. This is usually caused by email security scanners that automatically check links for safety. These are not real coach clicks. Over time, you'll learn to recognize the pattern of real engagement.
