Volleyball Recruiting Email Template (With Position-Specific Versions)
College volleyball recruiting moves through club season — coaches build their boards at qualifiers and nationals, often before your high school season even matters to them. Your email's job is to get you watched at the next tournament. Here's the template that does it.
A volleyball recruiting email leads with the four things coaches filter by — class year, position, height, and club — then hands them your film and your court schedule.

Height and touch numbers are volleyball's hard filters — omitting them doesn't hide them, it just tells the coach you'll make them dig for the answer. State them plainly and let your film argue the rest.
Position-Specific Adjustments
Setters
Lead with assists per set and your offense-running footage — coaches want location consistency and tempo decisions, not just clean hands. Note if you run a 5-1.
Liberos / DS
Digs per set, serve-receive rating if your club tracks it, and film heavy on serve receive under pressure. Height matters less; first-contact quality is everything.
Middles
Block touch, lateral speed to the pin, and transition attack clips. Middles get recruited on physical ceiling more than any position — measurements must be accurate.
Never inflate height or touch numbers. Coaches measure at camps, and a two-inch gap between your email and reality ends the conversation on the spot — over something that wouldn't have disqualified you if stated honestly.
The Tournament Email Rhythm
Volleyball has the clearest outreach calendar in college sports: email 2–3 weeks before each qualifier with your schedule, send your court assignments the week of, and follow up within 48 hours after with results and fresh film. Coaches literally build their weekend viewing schedules from these emails.
The "court schedule to follow" line earns you a legitimate second email the week of the tournament — a natural, valuable touchpoint that isn't "just checking in." Full cadence guidance in our email frequency guide.
Many D1 volleyball boards are largely set by junior year, but D2, D3, and NAIA programs recruit actively through senior year — and that's where most college volleyball is actually played. Check the timeline by sport to calibrate.
Film Notes for Volleyball
Open with your best 5 contacts inside 30 seconds. Include at least one unedited full set — volleyball coaches distrust montage-only film because it hides serve receive, coverage, and body language between points. Label the video with your name, class, position, and jersey color/number.
Send It to Enough Programs to Matter
The average volleyball player's realistic list spans 40–100 programs across divisions. Personalizing that by hand is where most recruitments stall. RECRUITED writes your base email once, personalizes a line or two per school, sends from your own Gmail, and shows you which coaches opened and clicked your film before the qualifier — so you know exactly who to court-side wave to.
